New Year's resolution: reduce your CO2

Time to make you New Year's resolutions. This year, why not commit to a reduction of your greenhouse gas output? Here are a few things you can do that will make meaningful changes:

  1. Replace 20 of your regular light bulbs with compact fluorescents or LED lights and save 2000 lbs greenhouse gases per year.
  2. Wash your laundry in cold (most all laundry detergents are formulated to do this) and save over 1000 pounds per year. Use a drying rack or a clothesline for your clothes and save over 1000 pounds (5 loads of laundry per week, 52 weeks a year).
  3. Keep your vehicle tuned up and change your oil regularly; keep your tires inflated and save 3000 pounds per vehicle per year.
  4. Reduce your driving trips by 20 miles per week and use alternative/public transportation when possible to save over 1000 pounds per year..
  5. Replace an old furnace in your home and save 3000 lbs.
