Time to make you New Year's resolutions. This year, why not commit to a reduction of your greenhouse gas output? Here are a few things you can do that will make meaningful changes:
- Replace 20 of your regular light bulbs with compact fluorescents or LED lights and save 2000 lbs greenhouse gases per year.
- Wash your laundry in cold (most all laundry detergents are formulated to do this) and save over 1000 pounds per year. Use a drying rack or a clothesline for your clothes and save over 1000 pounds (5 loads of laundry per week, 52 weeks a year).
- Keep your vehicle tuned up and change your oil regularly; keep your tires inflated and save 3000 pounds per vehicle per year.
- Reduce your driving trips by 20 miles per week and use alternative/public transportation when possible to save over 1000 pounds per year..
- Replace an old furnace in your home and save 3000 lbs.
